Valeo is an automotive supplier and partner to all automakers worldwide. They design, manufacture, and sell components, integrated systems, and modules for cars and trucks. Valeo’s decentralized structure consists of 111,600 employees spread across 33 countries, 184 production sites, and 55 research and development centers.

The Challenge

Valeo had recently dealt with a spike in production incidents, forcing the company to reconsider their entire employee training strategy.
With multiple sites and languages spoken across the organization, it was difficult to ensure a
consistent educational experience for every employee.
In 2016 Valeo began searching for a solution to unify procedures between sites, and to help improve product quality and prevent production incidents. It was important for Valeo that they had a platform to collect, share, and store knowledge from within their organization.


The Solution

Valeo discovered Speach, a cloud-based video knowledge transfer solution built to meet the communication and collaboration needs of the automotive industry.
Speach enables employees to quickly and easily create and share engaging How-To video presentations with their colleagues through interactive multimedia tutorials that feature video, documents, and other rich media. The content is viewable on desktop and mobile and puts knowledge creation in the hands of resident experts (rather than training designers) allowing for the quick sharing of informal knowledge

The results

Before Speach, Valeo struggled with various production incidents at a few sites. To combat this, Valeo used Speach to create a ‘Back to Basics’ series of Speaches. These short informative presentations helped educate employees on important and required job fundamentals. To ensure the success of the campaign, a series of follow-ups and reminders were sent to employees.

The outcome? A significant reduction in production incidents.
